Term 4 Week 10
Principal's Report
What a busy week we have had! With REX rehearsals, dress rehearsals and costume fittings for Carols, practising for Graduation and that's on top of all of the other end of year activities we have going on.
Last Thursday was our final transition day. The 2023 foundation students were lucky enough to be here for our Teddy Bears Picnic. I bet there were some tired children last Thursday night.
Just a reminder that Carols by Candlelight is on this Sunday night @ 7:30p.m. at the REX theatre. We ask that the children arrive by 7:15 and that they wear their costumes and SIT WITH THEIR PARENTS. Costumes will come home Friday afternoon and they can be returned to school on Monday. Please be careful with the costumes as they are on hire and must be returned in one piece.
Graduation Mass is at 6:00p.m. Tuesday night followed by a BBQ tea in the quadrangle. Each family please bring a salad to share.
On Monday we have a fun day planned. The CCSA have lots of fun activities organized for the students to celebrate the end of the year. The children will not need to bring lunch on Monday.
Tuesday is also the last day of school for students. Please send a plastic bag to school to help get all of their belongings home on Tuesday. Staff will be at school for the rest of the week so will be available if needed.
Reports will be uploaded onto SIMON on Wednesday next week. If you would like a hard copy, please let me know and I will arrange to have one delivered.
This week we presented Toby and Flynn with their certificates from the Calder Athletic Sports for receiving 21 points. Better late than never. Congratulations boys, what a wonderful achievement.
This is my last week as acting Principal. I thank the staff, students and families for supporting me and helping me get through the last month. We will welcome Mr McGrath back on Monday for his final week as Principal.
I hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas and I hope the fella in the red suit finds you with lots of exciting goodies.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.

Prep/1/2 Class News
As our year rapidly comes to an end, the junior classroom have had another busy week with Christmas activities underway, finishing off tasks and tidying up, all at the forefront of our minds. We’re excited to present our three Christmas Carols to you all this coming Sunday, with the students’ costumes all fitted and looking amazing, the singing is being tweaked and we’ve had a few chances to practice in the Rex Theatre this week. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Last Thursday we ran our final transition day with the new Preps for 2023. Everyone was super excited to come to school with their favourite ‘stuffed animal’ for our ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’. After sharing our stuffed animals with the class and having a look and a hold, we worked through some ‘Teddy Bear Picnic’ themed activities from colour matching, to tracing, to cutting, to drawing, to writing, to counting. So much fun! The students loved working on their ‘Bear’ themed booklets whilst we focused on the letter ‘B’ throughout. After recess we then trekked off to the Traveller’s Rest Park for our Teddy Bears Picnic. Along the way, the students spotted some clues left by the ‘teddy bears’ which asked everyone to do simple tasks – jump on the spot, pull a funny face, do 8 star jumps, etc. We followed the clues all the way to the park where we found a GIANT teddy bear with a basket for chocolate bear biscuits, tiny teddies, gummi bears and a few other sweet treats. We shared a picnic together in the park with our stuffed animal friends before heading over to the ‘Skate park’ playground for a game of ‘hide and seek’ with our teddies before making our way back to school. We finished the day off with some textured painting in the ART room where each student created a panda and a polar bear. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
In other news this week, we had two members of the AFL Auskick program come to visit our school on Wednesday, with the students participating in a footy skills clinic outdoors. The students worked on handballing, kicking, aiming and passing. The instructors were impressed with the effort put forward by our students and the encouraging words being shared between peers.
On Monday the parents and friends committee and teachers will be running a ‘fun day for the students’ to recognise the hard effort and work each individual has put in this year. We look forward to running cooking, craft, a treasure hunt and a special Christmas disco! We’ll also be having some special visitors here on the day to run some extra special activities with the students. On Tuesday we will be packing up our classroom, having a small Christmas party and movie before we come back together in the evening for our end of year celebration Mass. Could each student in the junior classroom please remember to bring their ‘Secret Santa’ gift before Tuesday and a packet of something sweet or savoury to share with the class during our Christmas movie on the last day. Thank-you!
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you back in 2023.

Humour
An Irishman and an American were sitting in the bar at Dublin airport.
“I’ve come to meet my brother,” said the Irishman. “He’s due to fly in from America in an hour’s time. It’s his first trip home in forty years”.
“Will you be able to recognize him?” asked the American.
“I’m sure I won’t,” said the Irishman. “After all, he’s been away for a long time”.
“I wonder if he’ll recognise you?” said the American.
“Of course he will,” said the Irishman. “Sure, an’ I haven’t been away at all!”
