Term 4 Week 3
Principal's Report
It is good to be back at school. Once again we are in for uncertain times with the possiblility of a lot of rain coming again. So we will just have to ride by the seat of our pants and do what we can as it comes along. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those people who are copping a battering around the state. Because we haven't been at school, there is not much more to speak of, just to keep safe, keep your spirits up and look after your wellbeing.

Prep/1/2 Class News
It’s great to be back at school after the very wet weather we had last week, I’m very glad to see that everyone is safe and to see that Charlton’s floods have been minimal. Thanks to God for looking after our community!
This week in the junior classroom, the students will be focusing on planning out and drafting an informative piece of writing about an animal. In class we’ve unpacked the features of an informative text and we’ve looked at what needs to be included and some styles of writing and language that would be used. It’s now time to put everything we’ve learnt together! Once the students have done their research and have drafted their sentences, each individual will begin to put together a good copy in a booklet form which we’ll be able to share in the school library for all to read!
In Maths we’re moving into another area of measurement, focusing on length. The preps are learning what it means to measure length and are using informal units to measure how long different things are, i.e. how many blocks long, how many paperclips long, etc. The grade 1/2’s are also exploring length, but starting to move into using formal units such as centimetres and metres. The students have done a good job at comparing lengths and determining which one is longer and shorter.
With Christmas only around the corner, today the students worked on a Christmas card competition being run by our federal member Anne Webster. The students were encouraged to think of what Christmas means to them and to try to use this as inspiration when planning and creating their Christmas card. Good-luck to all the entries!!
In the event of another flood event, we may move to online learning if we become cut off from the school. I will send home workbooks, a writing pencil and some loose leaf paper on Friday. Hopefully all going well, we will be back at school on Monday and if this is the case, please bring all workbooks back too!

Humour
Paddy who had a little too much to drink, is driving home from the city one night and, of course, his car was weaving all over the road. A cop pulls him over, “So,” says the cop to the driver. “Where have you been?”
“Why, I’ve been to the pub of course,” slurs Paddy.
“Well,” says the cop, “it looks like you have had quite a few drinks tonight?” “I did alright,” he says with a smile. “Did you know,” says the cop folding his arms across his chest, “that a few kilometres back, your wife fell out of the car?”
“Oh thank heaven”, sighs Paddy, “for a minute there, I thought I’d gone deaf.”
