    Principal's Report

Hello parents and friends of St Joseph's.

It has been a cold week so we say welcome to the wonderful season of Winter and we are grateful for the beautiful rain for our farmers, gardens and sporting ovals.

A big thankyou to our helpers and staff with the organization and running of the Winter Sports. The day was very successful and as they say in the classics "a good time was had by all".

We have had Mr Steve Russell here on Tuesday helping work on our five year school review preparation. All is nearly ready for our school review which will be held on Thursday and Friday the 9th and 10th of June.

    National Simultaneous Story Time

Last Wednesday at 11.00am F-6 gathered in the Senior room for the National Simultaneous story Time 2022 story ‘Family Tree’ written by Australian Musician Josh Pyke and illustrated by Ronojoy Ghosh.

The children loved watching Josh Read the story and enjoyed the interview with the illustrator as he explained how he created the illustrations for the story.

We were also blessed with being able to watch and join in the singing of Josh Pyke's song

‘Words make the World go Around’.

    Prep/1/2 Class News

This week we are continuing our work on fairy tale texts by looking at ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Students are sequencing events in order from the story and looking at compound words found in the text. We are working on a retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk and writing alternative versions of the story using appropriate nouns, verbs and adjectives. Students are working on their skills of proofreading and editing.

In Maths this week we are exploring the concept of time. We are looking at what the days of the week and months of the year are. We are ordering these and looking at reading and interpreting calenders. Students are beginning to work on telling time on an analogue clock using o’clock and half past. Year 2 students are beginning to work on using quarter past and quarter to.

In Religion we are discussing Paul’s letter to the community of Corinth and how Paul’s letter calls them and us to remember that love is the most important lesson that we can take from God.
