Term 2 Week 2 2022
Principal's Report
On Monday the 9th of May we will be celebrating with a school Mass, Mother's Day. Following Mass we are having a morning tea in the multi-purpose room. It is a great opportunity for the children to appreciate what their mums do for them and also it's a great time for the school community to celebrate what the mother's have done for the school, how the mother's have supported the school with fundraising and help in supporting many school projects. We are a blessed community, we have great mums.
The children in Grades 3 and 5 will be sitting their yearly NAPLAN tests. The children have been well prepared and I'm sure they will do well in these standardised tests. If they don't, its not the end of the world. We can't jump every hurdle we face in life, It is only one standardised test in the children's education.
Our school review planning preparation is well under way and things are going well there.
I strongly encourage the children to read every night to their parents because it is the most important plank for their future education. To be a confident and competent reader is one of the forebears of a successful education. Some children have misplaced their reading diaries. It would be good if they could be found and brought to school so they can be signed by the teachers when they are heard at school.
We have Steve Russell here on Friday to work with the staff on tidying up points for the school review.

Prep/1/2 Class News
This week we are reading the fairy tale, ‘The Frog Prince’. We have discussed other fairy tales that we know and what the similarities are between them. We have discussed the language the fairy tales use, such as ‘once upon a time’ and ‘happily ever after’ and how these are used in the stories. We have began to write our own fairy tales, firstly by retelling ‘The Frog Prince’. Students have been working on understanding and using adjectives in their writing. Students have also been working on Mother’s Day writing.
In Maths this week we are revising our understanding of addition. Foundation students are adding numbers from 0-20 together using pictures and numbers. They are beginning to work on their friends of ten sums. Year 1 students are working on adding 10 and building to ten when adding two digit numbers together. Year 2 students are working on adding two and three digit numbers together with carrying over.
Students are working on their speaking and listening skills during our show and tell. They are enjoying bringing in special items from home and telling the class lots of details about it. Students who are listening to the show and tell presentations are being attentive and listening carefully, which has enabled them to ask really specific questions. This is fantastic.
Wishing all the mums a very happy Mother’s Day for Sunday.
