Term 1 Week 8 2022
Principal's Report
Hello to all of the parents and friends of St Joseph's, as we enjoy the beautiful autumn weather. Yesterday we had the school financial audit which showed the wonderful work practices we have in place and the wash up from the audit was exceptionally encouraging. Today our Grade 3 and 5 students completed the NAPLAN practise test for 2022. It is the first NAPLAN experience for these children and they now have an understanding of what to expect in May when they sit NAPLAN online.
The grade 4 and 5 students will be attending the tennis Hot Shots day in Boort on Thursday 7th April. If there are any parents available to help transport children, please contact Cate in the next few days.
We are looking for some alternative games for children to play at lunch times and play times. We are working with the staff and the children with this.
On Friday, 1st April, we are having a school mass with Fr Gerry at 10:15. Parents and friends are welcome to attend.
The staff are working together and preparing for our school review on June 9/10.
Information
NAPLAN Practice Test. Today, Thursday (24th March), the Grade 3 and 5 students will complete the NAPLAN practise Test for 2022. This test is performed at 11:30a.m. at all Australian schools and is basically just checking that the network systems can hold up to so many students being online at the same time. It is also a preview for the children of what the NAPLAN tests will look like in May. This year is the first time doing NAPLAN for both classes as the Grade 5's missed out in 2020 due to Covid.
School Nurse. The school nurse, Kerrie McCosh, will be here on Monday March 28th. She will complete the prep health assessments but is also available to do basic hearing and sight tests on any other students whose parents feel a need. If you would like your child to have one of these tests, please notify the office for information.
Hot Shots Tennis. The Hot Shots Tennis day will be in Boort on Thursday 7th April. After much deliberation we have decided that we will take a team of Grade 4 and 5 students. Emily and any parents available will take the children across to Boort for the day.
Tuckshop. Please remember to have all tuckshop orders in on Tuesday each week
