Term 1 Week 7 2022
Principal Report
Hello parents and friends of St Joseph's. Today and Friday the principals of the Diocese are meeting in Horsham for a face to face meeting for the first time in over two years due to Covid restrictions. This year on the 9th and 10th June, we have our 5 year cyclical school review. We have commenced work on it and are well under way and we are looking forward to a positive outcome. We have marked the area out for our new outdoor learning area, so we are progressing well. We had Christine Bulger the RE consultant here on Tuesday working with our staff to improve their knowledge of the RE curriculum.
This Sunday is the Charlton Cup. This is a big event for our town because this race meeting is being beamed all over Australia. There are some 75 horses worked in this town and it is estimated that each horse brings in $20000 to this town every year in expenditure. Over the last 20 years, our club has progressed and prospered well into one of the leading harness clubs in the state. Many communities would love to have what we have so please come and support our cup meeting and help make it a great day.
Information
School Sores. (Impetigo) We have had a case of school sores reported to the school. The affected child is in the F/1/2 classroom. It is really important if you see any abnormal sores on your child, to get them checked. Children can return to school as soon as treatment has started.
NAPLAN Practice Test. Next Thursday (24th March), the Grade 3 and 5 students will complete the NAPLAN practise Test for 2022. This test is performed at 11:30a.m. at all Australian schools and is basically just checking that the network systems can hold up to so many students being online at the same time. It is also a preview for the children of what the NAPLAN tests will look like in May. This year is the first time doing NAPLAN for both classes as the Grade 5's missed out in 2020 due to Covid. A note came home with your child on Tuesday regarding loading the NAPLAN locked down browser on the ipads. This app is where the children enter the NAPLAN tests and is very important. If you are having trouble, please contact Cate.
School Nurse. The school nurse, Kerrie McCosh, will be here on Monday March 28th. She will complete the prep health assessments but is also available to do basic hearing and sight tests on any other students whose parents feel a need. If you would like your child to have one of these tests, please notify the office for information.
Hot Shots Tennis. The Hot Shots Tennis day will be in Boort on Thursday 7th April. After much deliberation we have decided that we will take a team of Grade 4 and 5 students. Emily and Cate will take the children across to Boort for the day.
Tuckshop. Please remember to have all tuckshop orders in on Tuesday each week

Humour
A husband took his wife to the hospital ready to deliver triplets.
The midwife told him to phone about 6.00 p.m. to see how the births were progressing.
So he headed to the pub and at 6.00 p.m. after a few beers, he accidently phoned the cricket ground instead of the hospital.
“How is it going there?” he asked, thinking he was talking to the maternity ward.
“They’re all out and the last one was a duck!” the woman replied.
