Principal Report
Hello parents and St Joseph's school community people. We have marked out the area for our outdoor learning area. The builder will be coming next week to get measurements and apply for the permit. This will take a number of weeks but when we get the go ahead it will be all systems go. We had a great day at the Variety Club meeting on Friday at Charlton Park. The participants were very impressed with the facilities and the food provided, well done mothers once again. The Variety Club expressed interest in coming back in two years time for an overnight stay.
Well done to Kelly Wright who is the new president of the CCSA. We wish Kelly all the best and we look forward to working with her in the ensuring years.
This weekend is a long weekend, so don't come to school on Monday.

Prep/1/2 Class News
This week during shared reading we have looked at the text ‘Patch at the Pet Show’ about a dog causes trouble at a pet show- or does he? Foundation students have been revising their understanding of the letter s a t p i n and associated sounds. Year 1 and Year 2 students have looked at what nouns are and how to add suffixes like ‘ing’ to different words. Students have begun looking at persuasive writing, focusing on understanding what an opinion is. Foundation students are still focusing on orally constructing simple sentences with the teacher and writing a few of these down in their books.
Our focus in Maths is still addition. Foundation students have been working with beads and counters to add single digit numbers together. Some students are having a go at writing their own addition sums. Year 1 students are working on bridging to ten with single, two and some three digit numbers. Year 2 students are exploring mental strategies such as split strategy, trading in addition and the jump strategy with and without MAB blocks.
In Music we are focusing on making music in different ways, with a focus on body percussion.

Variety Classic Car Day at Charlton Park
On 4th March 2022, St Joseph’s School went over to the Variety Bash at Charlton Park to receive the donation we were kindly given. We had our lunch order there and were given water.
The Variety Bash people had really awesome cars and really nice personalities.
My favourite car was the V8 Mercedes and the Go Kart.
I had to say a speech near the end to say thank you, I was pretty nervous but I think I aced it. We really enjoyed our day and appreciated the ipads. I hope Variety Bash keeps doing what they do best By Murphy
The Variety Bash was very good. My favourite car was the Go Kart. It was my favourite one because it can go 230km/h. By Toby
