Prep/1/2 Class News
“Wombat stew, Wombat stew, Gooey, Brewy, Yummy, Chewy, Wombat stew!” All students have enjoyed engaging with our book 'Wombat Stew' this week. We have focused on the phonemes 'un' during our shared reading time. Students were able to retell this story orally with Year 1 and Year 2 students writing a 'Wombat Stew' recipe during writing time. Foundation students did a wonderful job of writing out the ingredients of the Wombat Stew with some support from Mrs Armstrong. Students have also been exploring how to describe a setting in their stories using adjectives about the Australian Bush.
In Maths we have begun a new unit on addition. Foundation students have been using counters to add one digit numbers together and writing sums. Year 1 students have revised the idea of counting on and using number lines to add two digit numbers together. Year 2 students are looking at adding two and three digit numbers together using different mental strategies.
This week we celebrate Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. In class we have discussed the significance of these days in the Catholic faith and the traditions that we still practice today.

HUMOUR
The postman knocked on the door and when young Murphy opened it he asked: “Is your Daddy in?”
“No,” replied Murphy, “he went out when my mummy came in.”
“Well is your mummy in?” asked the postman.
“No—she went out when my brother came in.”
“Well is your brother in?’
“No—he went out when I came in”
“Are you in charge of the house?”
“No” replied Murphy— “The house is over there—this is the lavatory.”
