Principal's Report
Hello everybody
The swimming programme concludes on Friday and all students have made excellent progress with water familiarisation, and confidence within their own ability. We thank Sloan Swim School and Sheree for their tuition and endeavour.
We have our beginning of year school Mass on Ash Wednesday, 2nd March at 2:00p.m. As this is a Wednesday there will be no preps at school but they are welcome to come along if they choose too.
We have been successful in obtaining a $25,000 grant to erect an outside learning area which will also double for a team meeting spot for sports as well to maximise its use. Initial quotes have been received and progress is underway.
Next week is week 4, the year is getting away quickly, so heads down and work to be done.

Prep/1/2 Class News
It is the last week of our swimming program. Students have enjoyed learning many skills to keep themselves and others safe in the water. Well done everyone on your involvement!
In Literacy, students have been reading a book called ‘Little Lost Dinosaur’. It uses simple sentences to explore the ideas of someone being ‘lost’ and different groups of families and friends. We have been discussing who in our community could help us if we ourselves were ever lost- such as friends, policemen and teachers to name a few. In our writing we are continuing our dinosaur theme by drawing a dinosaur and using different adjectives to describe them such as scaly, large, blue, etc. We used these adjectives in our narrative writing to describe our dinosaurs as we wrote a story about meeting them. Foundation students orally constructed sentences with Mrs Armstrong about their dinosaurs that they drew, including how they looked, sounded and acted along with how they felt about their dinosaur.
In Maths students have been skip counting by 2s, 10s and 5s and are looking at simple counting patterns and determining what the rule for the pattern might be. Students as a whole class have been focusing on learning to count from 0-110, sequence and order numbers and learn the place value of thousands (Year 2), hundreds (year 1) and ones (Foundation students). Foundation students have been learning to write numbers 0-20 and count collections of objects.
In Religion we have been focusing on teambuilding games and what makes a good teammate.
3/4/5/6 Class News
Literacy: We are making posters about Australian Animals or Landmarks. Our spelling homework books are ruled up and ready to use at home for homework.
We are completing Homework Contract 2 this week and studying our nine Times Tables.
Numeracy: Students are looking at Place Value and we are working hard to partition numbers.
Religion: Each student from the class took home a Project Compassion Box. The Theme this year is For All Future Generations. This box is used to collect any donations that you or family members may like to donate to the work of Caritas Australia. For over 50 years, Caritas Australia and Project Compassion have been raising vital funds to help those facing poverty and injustice in our world. Your donation will help vulnerable families to build brighter futures for themselves.

Humour
A married couple go to a night-club. There’s a man on the dance floor giving it all the moves – moonwalking, back flips, everything.
The wife says to her husband: “Do you know that man proposed to me 25 years ago, and I turned him down.”
Her husband says: “Looks like he’s still celebrating!”
