    Principal's Report

    Hello everybody.

The children have made a great start to the swimming program.  We have a wonderful instructor who is doing a terrific job and I think the children are gaining confidence in their own ability and in the water.  They are all enjoying the program.

I would like to thank Jake Lanyon for spraying the oval for Bindii's on the weekend.  Once again they are there in abundance.

Please make sure all of the children have a school hat at school each day and apply sunscreen each morning before they come to school.

I strongly encourage all parents to hear their children read every night even if it is only for a small time.  Every little bit helps, as with practice they grow in confidence and knowledge.

Our preppies are still doing a wonderful job, adapting to their new schooling life, and we look forward to the ensuring weeks.

    Frank McGrath

    Prep/1/2 Classroom News

We’ve had a busy week learning in the classroom and being involved in the swimming program. Students have enjoyed the start of the program and are learning many wonderful skills in the water. The warm weather this week has been great.

We have been reading the book Jessica’s Box by Peter Carnavas during our shared reading time. Students have been exploring the ideas of friendship and what a good friend looks like, including what is special about themselves as a friend to others. Students have continued to explore these themes in their writing concerning how friends spent time together and how they treat each other. Foundation students have been orally constructing sentences with Mrs Armstrong about what friends do together and characteristics of good friends, such as being kind.

In Maths students have been focusing on learning to count from 0-100, sequence and order numbers and learn the place value of hundreds (Year 2), tens (year 1) and ones (Foundation students). Students have been skip counting by 10s and 5s and are looking at simple counting patterns.

Our Religion unit this term is focusing on relationships in our lives and the importance of these. We have been doing team building activities and reflecting on what behaviours helped us to be the most successful, such as using a clear voice, encouraging others, listening to others and taking turns.

    Humour

Two elderly ladies met for the first time since school.
One asked the other: “You were always so organized in school, did you manage to live a well-planned life?”
“Oh yes” said her friend. “My first marriage was to a millionaire, my second to an actor, my third to a preacher; and now I’m married to an undertaker.”
Her friend asked: “What do those marriages have to do with a well-planned life?”
“One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready and four to go.”
